about

At the end of 1996, the friends Peter, Stijn and Xavier met again at the school of Arts in Genk. They know each other over the years because of their common interest in New Wave music. Over there, they decided to form a band and very soon they recorded some demo tracks at a local studio.

But in the meanwhile, they were writing new songs and got the feeling that these pieces were really worth to record at a top studio.
So, during the summer of 1997 Star Industry recorded 5 new songs, together with Luc Van Acker at the famous Galaxy Studios in Belgium.
Supplemented with 5 demo and one ghost track, this resulted in their first album Iron Dust Crush.
The CD version was released at the end of 1997. Till that date, the band never played a live concert, which is not the logic thing to do.

The album is a mix of New Wave Gothic Rock anthems, catchy melodies, powerful guitars, dark synths and piano’s, pushing drums and the strong, deep, superior voice of singer Peter Beckers.
It also contained the dancefloor filler and club hit Nineties, that straight away appears on several compilations.
The album was received excellently in the scene all over the world and even topped the number one position for 6 weeks at the alternative charts in Israel.

In 1998 Star Industry appeared the first time on stage, presenting their album, during the famous Black Easter Festival at the Vooruit in Gent, sharing the line-up with VNV Nation, Covenant and Love Like Blood.

Soon the album was sold out and being released for the second time.
But even the reissue went straight out of stock.
In 2008 Iron Dust Crush appears as a limited bonus cd with their first live album Black Angel/White Devil.

In al those years, people keep asking for the album again and again.
That’s why the band now decided to make a vinyl edition of their timeless excellent debut masterpiece.

"STAR INDUSTRY saw the light of day in mid '96. The band recorded their first album "Iron Dust Crush" in one of the most professional recording studios in Europe (Galaxy studio's, managed by Luc van Acker) during August and September '97. The CD was released in November '97 and distributed in Belgium by Purple Moon and in the UK by Nightbreed Records.
The members are influenced by different bands like Stabbing Westward, Killing Joke, Front 242, Sisters Of Mercy, etc..."
